It has a scale of 160 spaces in case you have a wide carriage printer or want to type in compressed mode. It has margins and tabs which are resettable and which pad out with spaces so even if you don't have an Epson compatible printer, the basic functions should still work. It was written to run on in 80 column mode and expects your monitor to be in that mode.
