ST-Computer PD - Public Domain

ST-Computer, also known as "series S", is one of the biggest public domain series for the Atari ST at 1000 disks. Originally published from 1986 to 1996, the series showed the growing sophistication of Atari ST software and the slow change towards more multitasking-friendly and cleanly written applications.

  • Fritz
Fritz is a little helper that displays information about the operating state on multitasking operating systems. Among other things these are the computer running time, a boot counter, the mouse coordinates, a memory display, furthermore Fritz can display the CPU usage and with a multitasking manometer the system reaction time. The so-called Fritz factor shows the relative speed to an 8 MHz ST. Fritz can also be used as a short timer and stop watch. A password protection can be used to prevent unauthorized access to the computer. Fritz can be adjusted and calibrated via a configuration file.
  • GEMTrek
A cross between Star Trek and Battleships & Cruisers. The storyline follows that of Star Trek with your computer controlled opponents being the Kingons or Romulans and your ships resembling famous crafts from the Federation Starfleet. However, that's where the similarity ends (well almost!). Gameplay itself follows that of the Battleships and Cruisers game where the aim is simple, to sink (blow up?) the enemy's ships. GemTrek is unsurprisingly housed in a slick GEM interface and runs as an ACC or PRG. It is of course fully Multi-TOS and MagiC Mac compatible. Docs in English and German, program in English, German and Swedish. On-line Help in ST-Guide (not included) format. Requires a minimum resolution of 640x400, so high res only if running on an ST.

  • Fax Boot
FAX_BOOT.PRG is a useful utility program, which can reduce the boot time of the automatically started computer by its own configuration. Prerequisite is a computer switch-on device, the presence of a boot select program and a "HD-WAIT" program. As an option, a brief assembly tutorial for the modification of the clocked "RI" ringing signal into a continuous signal is available. This further shortens the response time of a FAX program.
  • Faxwache
Notifies Tele Office users of faxes received during boot-up.
  • ProgrammStatist
ProgramStatist is used for statistical management of all disk programs. The frequency of calls and the time spent (single & total) are recorded, which serves the general overview. Optionally an individual administration in combination with as many programs as desired exists, for the collection of working times. Furthermore, the usage of the computer is recorded. First official version from 9.4.96 (for all Ataris).
  • Prüfsumme
